The existing Parish Room was built in 1970 close to the south side of the church. It is well concealed from view and can easily be missed even when walking on the path from the car park up onto the common because of a pair of large trees that stand in the way.

It has one large room, a small kitchen and ladies and gents toilets as well as a small amount of storage space in a lobby area.

It is now showing signs of 40 years of wear and tear and is deficient in the following areas:-

  • It has no access for the disabled.
  • There are no toilet facilities for the disabled and the existing toilets, although functional, are not 'comfortable'.
  • The size of the main room is limiting and it cannot be sub-divided to allow for concurrent activities.
  • The kitchen facilties are old and failing and the kitchen space is too small for serious catering.
  • Heating provision is inadequate and expensive, inhibiting the building's use during winter months.
  • Storage facilities are inadequate and do not allow for regular users' materials to be stored.
